TWO GENERATIONS OF CORK BALLADEERS: Corkmen Máirtín de Cógáin and Jimmy Crowley have given their whole lives to the promulgation and nurture of the ballad. Both men hail from the rebel county of Cork and now reside in America. This is their first duet album which won “Best Album by a New Band” from the paper Irish American News. A themed album bringing the listener from the battlefields of Flanders to the South Pole to Freemantle is Australia as well as the cornfields of Gettysburg and many more adventures.

With the help of family and friends Nora Cogan has produced a varied and entertaining album. All profits from the sale of the CD will go directly to Turkana , Kenya where Nora funds an education project there. Already 1,700 CDs have been sold and €14,000 has gone to The Anna Nanjala Teachers Education Centre, in Turkana, Kenya. Only 250 CDs remain.

This is how Máirtín was at the start of his career; raw, fresh and ready to sing at the drop of a hat. The False Start was recorded in Leap Studios, west Cork in the summer of 2004. It is a collecting of Máirtín’s early party pieces and crowd pleasers. A few songs as Gaelige (in the Irish Language), a couple of Funny numbers and a story his father thought him brings the listener on a journey of laughter and history. Recently it has sold out and is only available on digital format. Máirtín brings not CDs to gigs now but DCs make sure you ask him about them.
